She started her career as an actress and a model. She moved on to writing music for the theater and dance worlds. She wrote and recorded the score for the international award-winning film, "ABCD" and the feature documentary "Sid Bernstein Presents" based on the life and career of culture shaping music promoter, Mr. Bernstein. Deirdre has also worked as a lyricist with the great jazz pianist, Russ Kassoff. Their songs are performed and recorded, especially in the New York jazz community.
Deirdre has appeared in New York City clubs such as The Cutting Room, The Baggott Inn, Danny's Skylight Room, Makor and The Red Lion performing contemporary classic songs as well as her own material. Her own songs are like little three-act plays - dramatic, emotional, timeless. Often they are love songs - sometimes of the unrequited variety. The listener can immediately identify: she knows what you feel - and sings it.
